چکیده

In this paper, we present a novel dichromatic-based method for estimating illuminant chromaticity. The proposed method is essentially based on the Dichromatic Slope and Dichromatic Line Space that we introduce. Dichromatic slope is the slope of the dichromatic line that passes the image chromaticity of a pixel in chromaticity space. It is specularity-invariant and can be computed for each pixel. Accordingly, each pixel can be projected into a three-dimensional dichromatic line space defined in terms of image chromaticity and dichromatic slope. Reliable dichromatic lines can then be obtained by detecting local maxima in dichromatic line space. Illuminant chromaticity is easily estimated by finding the intersections of the resulting dichromatic lines. The proposed method has some advantages. It does not require precise color segmentation, and therefore, can deal with highly textured images. In addition, the proposed method does not suffer from nearly parallel dichromatic lines and it can estimate artificial illuminant chromaticity.

Dichromatic Illumination Estimation via Hough Transforms in 3D

A new illumination-estimation method is proposed based on the dichromatic reflection model combined with Hough transform processing. Other researchers have shown that using the dichromatic reflection model under the assumption of neutral interface reflection, the color of the illuminating light can be estimated by intersecting the dichromatic planes created by two or more differently coloured r...

Single Surface Colour Constancy

There are two broad classes of colour constancy algorithms: statistical and physics-based. The former attempt to correlate the statistics of the colours in an image with statistical knowledge about light and surfaces. If there is good colour diversity in a scene then the statistical approach often works well. The latter, physics-based algorithms are founded on an understanding of how physical p...

Constrained Dichromatic Colour Constancy

Statistics-based colour constancy algorithms work well as long as there are many colours in a scene, they fail however when the encountering scenes comprise few surfaces. In contrast, physics-based algorithms, based on an understanding of physical processes such as highlights and interre ections, are theoretically able to solve for colour constancy even when there are as few as two surfaces in ...

Illumination Estimation Using a Multilinear Constraint on Dichromatic Planes

A new multilinear constraint on the color of the scene illuminant based on the dichromatic reflection model is proposed. The formulation avoids the problem, common to previous dichromatic methods, of having to first identify pixels corresponding to the same surface material. Once pixels from two or more materials have been identified, their corresponding dichromatic planes can be intersected to...

Convex and Non-convex Illuminant Constraints for Dichromatic Colour Constancy

The dichromatic reflectance model introduced by Shafer [16] predicts that the colour signals of most materials fall on a plane spanned by a vector due to the material and a vector that represents the scene illuminant. Since the illuminant is in the span of all dichromatic planes, colour constancy can be achieved by finding the intersection of two or more planes. Unfortunately, this approach has...
